US standard pipe imports up 19.7 percent in April

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of standard pipe totaled 100,174 mt in April 2018, up 19.7 percent from March and up 11.6 percent from April 2017 levels. By value, standard pipe imports totaled $96.1 million in April 2018, compared to $81.6 million in the previous month and $75.2 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most standard pipe from Canada in April, with 19,121 mt, compared to 18,014 mt in March and 14,157 mt in April 2017. Other top sources of imported standard pipe in April include Vietnam, with 16,230 mt; Thailand, with 13,115 mt; Korea, with 12,743 mt; United Arab Emirates, with 7,025 mt; and Mexico, with 5,669 mt.
