US standard pipe imports down 13.3 percent in December

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of standard pipe totaled 48,140 mt in December 2019, down 13.3 percent from November but up 19.6 percent from December 2018 levels. By value, standard pipe imports totaled $45.9 million in December 2019, compared to $52.2 million in the previous month and $49.9 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most standard pipe from Canada in December, with 10,083 mt, compared to 12,459 mt in November and 7,692 mt in December 2018. Other top sources of imported standard pipe in December include Korea, with 7,815 mt; UAE, with 5,779 mt; Turkey, with 4,342 mt; and Mexico, with 4,089 mt.
