US rig counts sees healthy week-on-week rise

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending July 22, the US rotary rig count increased by 15 to 462 following a seven-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by one to 88, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by 14 to 371. The overall rig count is still down by 414 rigs, year-on-year.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by seven in the week ending July 22 to 102 following a 14-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by 98 from the same week a year ago.
