Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending August 17, the US rotary rig count remained level at 1,057 rigs following a 13-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas remained at 186 while the number of rigs drilling for oil remained at 869. The overall rig count is now up by 111 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by three to 212 rigs in the week ending August 17, following a 14-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by two rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
