US rig count rises as Canadian count drops

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending October 19, the US rotary rig count increased by four to 1,067 rigs following an 11-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by one to 194 while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by four to 873. The overall rig count is now up by 154 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by four to 191 rigs in the week ending October 19, following a 13-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 11 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
