US rig count rises again while Canadian count falls

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending August 10, the US rotary rig count increased by 13 to 1,057 rigs following a four-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by three to 186 while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by 10 to 869. The overall rig count is now up by 108 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count declined by 14 to 209 rigs in the week ending August 10, following a stable trend the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 11 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
