Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending March 16 the US rotary rig count increased by six to 990 rigs following a three-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by one to 189 while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by four to 800. The overall rig count is now up by 201 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 54 to 219 rigs in the week ending March 16 following a 29-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 57 rigs from the same week a year ago.
