US rig count falls again in US, but rises in Canada

Baker Hughes reported Friday that for the week ending June 28, the US rig count fell by 11 from the previous week to 1,748, following a 12-rig decrease a week ago. The rig count was also down 211 from the same week a year ago when active drilling rigs totaled 1,959. The oil rig count was down 15 to 1,390, but the gas rig count increased by four to 353.

On the other hand, the rig count increased by nine to 206 in Canada, the sixth consecutive weekly increase. Canada's rig count was still down 55 from 261 a year ago.
