Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending January 4, the US rotary rig count decreased by eight to 1,075 rigs following a three-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas stayed level at 198 while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by eight to 877. The overall rig count is now up by 151 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by six to 76 rigs in the week ending January 4, following a 61-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 98 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
