Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending October 4, the US rotary rig count decreased by five to 855 rigs following an eight-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by two to 144, while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by three to 710. The overall rig count is now down by 197 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 17 to 144 rigs in the week ending October 4, following an eight-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 38 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
