US rebar imports up 4.9 percent in February

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of rebar totaled 96,543 mt in February 2023, up 4.9 percent from January but down 30.6 percent from February 2022 levels. By value, rebar imports totaled $68.2 million in February 2023, compared to $71.7 million in January and $112.4 million in February 2022.

The US imported the most rebar from Algeria in February, with 50,522 mt, compared to 33,929 mt in January and 69,751 mt in February 2022. Other top sources of imported rebar in February include Mexico, with 18,638 mt; Canada, with 12,909 mt; Dominican Republic, with 8,401 mt; and Brazil, with 4,918 mt.
