US OCTG imports up 22.3 percent in September

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) totaled 296,975 mt in September 2017, up 22.3 percent from August and up 295.8 percent from September 2016 levels. By value, OCTG imports totaled $303.2 million in September 2017, compared to $240.3 million in the previous month and $78.6 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most OCTG from Korea in September, with 83,489 mt, compared to 98,106 mt in August and 12,689 mt in September 2016. Other top sources of imported OCTG in September include Mexico, with 37,714 mt; Taiwan, with 34,759 mt; Austria, with 15,793 mt; Brazil, with 15,380 mt; and Canada, with 14,711 mt.
