US line pipe imports drop 22.2 percent in April

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 129,323 mt in April 2017, down 22.2 percent from March and down 10.3 percent from April 2016 levels. By value, line pipe imports totaled $96.5 million in April 2017, compared to $132.7 million in the previous month and $119.7 million in the same month last year.
 
The US imported the most line pipe from Korea in April, with 49,865 mt, compared to 38,680 mt in March and 41,001 mt in April 2016. Other top sources of imported line pipe in April include India, with 16,419 mt; Germany, with 11,814 mt; Mexico, with 10,016 mt; Canada, with 6,412 mt; and Ukraine, with 5,600 mt.
