US line pipe imports down 32.8 percent in April

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 51,074 mt in April 2020, down 32.8 percent from March and down 66.0 percent from April 2019 levels. By value line pipe imports totaled $64.0 million in April 2020, compared to $81.9 million in the previous month and $159.8 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most line pipe from Korea in April, with 12,167 mt, compared to 22,693 mt in March and 42,454 mt in April 2019. Other top sources of imported line pipe in April include Italy, with 6,973 mt; Canada, with 6,926 mt; United Kingdom, with 6,295 mt; and Mexico, with 5,291 mt.
