US line pipe imports down 16.7 percent in March

According to final census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of line pipe totaled 53,185 mt in March 2023, down 16.7 percent from February and down 10.9 percent from March 2022 levels. By value, line pipe imports totaled $95.8 million in March 2023, compared to $123.1 million in February and $95.9 million in March 2022.

The US imported the most line pipe from South Korea in March, with 18,805 mt, compared to 39,399  mt in February and 30.247 mt in March 2022. Other top sources of imported line pipe in March include Mexico, with 7,615 mt; India, with 6,596 mt; Germany, with 3,481 mt; and Thailand, with 3,236 mt.
