On July 1, 2005, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) instituted five-year reviews (“sunset”) concerning the duties on imports of circular welded
pipe and tube from
Argentina,
Brazil,
India,
Korea,
Mexico,
Taiwan,
Thailand, and
Turkey.
ITC used the sunset reviews to determine whether the revocation of the orders would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury to US domestic industries.
As a result of these reviews, the ITC determined that revocation of the existing countervailing duty order circular welded
pipe and tube from
Turkey; the existing antidumping duty orders on circular welded
pipe and tube from
Brazil,
India,
Korea,
Mexico,
Taiwan,
Thailand, and
Turkey; and the existing antidumping duty order on light-walled rectangular
pipe and tube from
Taiwan would likely lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury to US domestic industries.
Moreover, the ITC determined that revocation of the existing antidumping duty order on imports of light-walled rectangular
pipe and tube from
Argentina would not likely lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury to US domestic industries.
Accordingly, the existing orders on imports of circular welded
pipe and tube from
Brazil,
India,
Korea,
Mexico,
Taiwan,
Thailand, and
Turkey and on imports of light-walled rectangular
pipe and tube from
Taiwan will remain in place. On the other hand, the existing duty order on imports of light-walled rectangular
pipe and tube from
Argentina will be will be revoked.
