US iron and steel scrap exports increase 29.5 percent in February

According to the latest figures from the US International Trade Commission, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled 1,266,462 mt in February, a 29.5 percent increase month-on-month and a 22.6 percent increase year-on-year.
 
Turkey was the largest recipient of US iron and scrap exports in February with 355,516 mt, which surged up 333.5 percent month-on-month and increased 35.7 percent year-on-year. Other notable destinations in February include: Mexico, with 164,493 mt; Taiwan, with 145,119 mt; Vietnam, with 110,816 mt; and Thailand, with 74,964 mt.
 
In terms of value, US iron and steel scrap exports totaled $363.3 million in February, a 10.6 percent increase compared to January and a 47.4 percent increase compared to February 2016.
