US HRC imports down 6.1 percent in June

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of hot rolled sheets totaled 120,724 mt in June 2019, down 6.1 percent from May and down 20.9 percent from June 2018 levels. By value, HRC imports totaled $83.6 million in June 2019, compared to $84.1 million in the previous month and $117.6 million in the same month last year.

The US imported the most HRC from Canada in June, with 56,098 mt, compared to 52,578 mt in May and 49,163 mt in June 2018. Other top sources of imported HRC in June include Korea, with 38,506 mt; Netherlands, with 7,861 mt; Germany, with 4,179 mt; and Belgium, with 3,656 mt.
