Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending August 21, the US rotary rig count increased by 10 to 254 rigs. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by one, to 69, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by 11 to 183. The overall rig count is now down by 662 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by two to 56 rigs in the week ending August 21. The Canadian rig count is now down by 83 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
