Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending October 12, the US rotary rig count increased by 11 to 1,063 rigs following a two-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by four to 193 while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by eight to 869. The overall rig count is now up by 135 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 13 to 195 rigs in the week ending October 12, following a four-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 17 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
