Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending December 1 the US rotary rig count increased by six to 929 rigs following an eight-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by four to 180 while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by two to 749. The overall rig count is now up by 332 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by seven to 222 rigs in the week ending December 1 following a seven-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by 22 rigs from the same week a year ago.
