US and Canadian rig counts decline week-on-week

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending October 20 the US rotary rig count decreased by 15 to 913 rigs following an eight-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by eight to 177 while the number of rigs drilling for oil decreased by seven to 736. The overall rig count is now up by 360 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.

Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by 10 to 202 rigs in the week ending October 20, following a three-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by 59 rigs from the same week a year ago.
