Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending January 26 the US rotary rig count increased by 11 to 947 rigs following a three-rig decrease the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by one to 188 while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by 12 to 759. The overall rig count is now up by 235 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count increased by 13 to 338 rigs in the week ending January 26 following a 49-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is still down by seven rigs from the same week a year ago.
