Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending October 18, the US rotary rig count decreased by five to 851 rigs following a one-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas decreased by six to 137, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by one to 713. The overall rig count is now down by 216 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count decreased by three to 143 rigs in the week ending October 18, following a two-rig increase the week before. The Canadian rig count is now down by 48 rigs compared to the same week a year ago.
