Ukraine’s steel pipe exports in Jan-Feb 2005
Ukraine produced 296'500 tons of steel pipes in the first two months of 2005. The figure indicates a 25.2% year-on-year increase.
The country exported 217'400 tons of the
production with an average unit price of $731.83. The quantity shows 44.9% year on year increase while the average unit price shows 25.6% increase. The relatively low increase in the average unit price stems from the increase in the sales of cheaper grades.
In the mentioned period,
Ukraine sold steel pipes to 54 countries, that is 15 less than the number in January-February 2004.
Russia's imports showed 12.7% year-on-year decrease and accounted for 22.4% (48'700 tons) of
Ukraine's exports and the country sold another 24.7% (53'700 tons) of its exports to other
CIS countries. Imports of EU countries, Northern America and Asian countries accounted for 25.3%, 11.5% and 10.3% of overall
pipe exports.
Seamless steel pipes made up 28'600 tons of
Ukraine's overall steel
pipe exports to
Russia. The country exported 30'000 tons of seamless steel pipes to the other
CIS countries and 23'300 tons to
North America. In January-February 2005,
Ukraine exported 131'050 tons of seamless steel pipes in total.
Ukraine exported 45'320 tons of welded pipes during the period. The country sold 8'500 tons of welded pipes to
Germany, 4'900 tons to
Russia, 4'300 tons to
Poland and 3'000 tons to
Hungary.
