According to the Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom, in January 2011 Ukraine's average daily pig iron output was almost unchanged from the December 2010 level, seeing a very slight increase from 77,600 mt to 77,800 mt.

In the first seven days of February 2011, the country's average daily pig iron output registered a slight decrease to 77,500 mt.
According to the Metallurgprom data, as of February 1, five of Ukraine's 36 operating blast furnaces were idle, while three of the country's 21 converters, 17 of its 35 open hearth furnaces and eight of its 15 electric furnaces also continued to stand idle.
