Ukraine to fight for non-appliance of Russian duties on pipes
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine intends to fight for non-appliance of duties on imports of pipes with large diameters, imposition of which was proposed by Russian in July 2006. The statement was emphasized in ’the plan of urgent measures to be undertaken to overcome the crisis situation in economy and social sphere', which was accepted by the Cabinet of Ministers on August 30, 2006. As a part of a policy, the Cabinet ordered to the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Industrial Policy and to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to prepare and undertake the negotiation on the subject matter with Russian side in September of the current year. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, Russian MEDT, on suggestion of the Fund of Development of Pipe Industry, proposed to impose 8 percent special duty on imports of pipes with large diameter from Ukraine.
