The Ukrainian Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade (MKMT) has decided to prolong the period of safeguard investigation into imports of seamless OCTG into the country, regardless of the product origin, for a period of 60 days.

The initial investigation was initiated based on a complaint filed by Ukrainian pipe producers Interpipe Nikopolskiy Tube Plant and Interpipe Nikopolskiy Seamless Pipe Plant Niko Tube.

These producers argued in their complaint that in 2006 imports of seamless OCTG into Ukraine increased by 2.3-fold compared to 2003, and that, accordingly, the share of the domestic producers in the Ukrainian market saw a decrease.

Upon consideration of the submitted evidence, the MKMT has decided that the evidence was sufficient for the opening of a safeguard investigation into imports of seamless OCTG with outside diameter not exceeding 406.4 mm. The product in question falls under HS Code 7304 29 11 00.
