Turkish PPGI imports up 52.4 percent in 2016

In December last year, Turkey's pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) imports amounted to 1,720 mt, down by 51.2 percent year on year and falling 48.4 percent compared to November, while the revenue from these imports decreased by 36.2 percent month on month to $1.7 million, falling by 46.6 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).
 
Last year, Turkey's PPGI imports increased by 52.4 percent to 85,868 mt, while the revenue from these imports amounted to $61.4 million, up 21.9 percent, both year on year.
 
In 2016, China ranked first among Turkey's PPGI import sources, supplying 56,236 metric tons, up 81.83 percent year on year. China was followed by Italy and Belgium, with their PPGI exports to Turkey amounting to 11,806 metric tons and 6,098 metric tons respectively.
