Turkey’s billet imports more than double in January

In January this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 24.7 percent month on month to 332,291 mt, up by 104.5 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $183.93 million, up 19.1 percent month on month and up 65.1 percent year on year. 

In the given period, Turkey imported 127,465 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, up 85.7 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Oman which supplied 49,327 mt in the given period.
