Turkey’s wire rod exports up 20 percent in 2016

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in December last year Turkey's wire rod exports increased by 13.5 percent year on year to 70,390 metric tons, up 46.6 percent compared to the previous month. The revenue from these exports amounted to $29.4 million, up 55.5 percent month on month and rising by 35.8 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

 


Last year, Turkey's wire rod exports amounted to 939,443 mt, rising by 20 percent, while the value of these exports increased by 8.8 percent to $372.3 million, both year on year.
 
In 2016, Turkey's largest wire rod export destination was Israel which received 203,511 metric tons. Israel was followed by Egypt with 124,492 metric tons and the US with 109,729 metric tons.
