Turkey's steel pipe exports down 13.4 percent in August

In the first eight months of the current year, Turkey's steel pipe exports increased by 2.16 percent year on year to 1.26 million metric tons, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Steel Pipe Manufacturers Association (CEBID). The value of these exports totaled $1.65 billion, decreasing by 3.68 percent year on year.
 
In the January-August period of this year, the largest export markets for Turkish steel pipes were Iraq, the US and the UK. In the given period, Turkish steel pipe exports to Iraq decreased by 20.94 percent to 218,409 mt, while exports to the US rose by 14.37 percent to 185,331 mt and exports to the UK increased by 68.67 percent to 176,179 mt, all year on year. Meanwhile, in the given period, Turkey's steel pipe exports to Israel increased by 165.21 percent year on year to 66,901 mt.
 
On the other hand, in August this year, Turkey's steel pipe exports decreased by 13.28 percent compared to July and were down 13.42 percent year on year, amounting to 140,450 mt. The value of these exports was $116.32 million, down 15.14 percent month on month and decreasing by 22.94 percent year on year.
 
CEBID stated that the slowdown in the growth rate of Turkey's steel pipe exports in the first eight months of this year was due to the continuing complex situation in Iraq, which is Turkey's top steel pipe export destination.
