In February this year, Turkey's scrap import volume decreased by 17.7 percent month on month and by 9.4 percent year on year to 1.40 million metric tons, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $534.53 million, down 15.9 percent year on year and 7.8 percent month on month.
In the January-February period, Turkey's scrap imports amounted to 3.11 million mt, up 2.7 percent, while the value of these imports increased by 3.2 percent to $1.17 billion, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey imported 736,076 mt of scrap from the US, up 102.2 percent year on year, with the US ranking as Turkey's leading scrap import source, ahead of the Netherlands which supplied 459,399 mt in the given period, down 24.6 year on year, and the UK which supplied 284,028 mt of scrap, down 8.9 percent year on year.
