Turkey’s Foreign Steel Trade Association has stated that they aim to triple Turkish steel producers’ exports to the West African market via its “Heybe Line” project. Accordingly, the association aims to open up a sustainable export market by providing bulk freighters and warehouse services at arrival ports for the steel industry. It also targets giving a competitive service for even the smallest volume of shipments.

According to the association’s announcement, the project in question will not provide service only to the iron and steel industry but will also address the needs of other sectors. Additionally, it stated that the project which has already started to provide logistics services will pave the way for financiers to invest in West Africa in the long term.

The “Heybe Line” project’s design and feasibility phase is planned to be completed by end of this year and the project is scheduled to come on stream in early 2020.
