Turkey’s ferroalloy imports up 72.7 percent in April

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in April this year Turkey's ferroalloy imports rose 54.6 percent compared to the previous month and were up 72.7 percent compared to April 2011, totaling 42,629 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $61.1 million, increasing by 44.16 percent as compared to March and up 42.7 percent year on year.

In the first four months of 2012, Turkey's ferroalloy imports totaled 145,711 metric tons, increasing 2.8 percent compared to January-April 2011. Imports from Ukraine in the period in question amounted to 57,514 metric tons, rising by 5.3 percent, while imports from India in the first four months of the current year amounted to 24,454 mt, down 15.1 percent, both compared to the same period of 2011. Meanwhile, China exported 17,950 mt of ferroalloys to Turkey in the first four months, up 74.8 percent year on year.
