Turkey’s chrome ore exports fall strongly in August

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in August this year Turkey's chrome ore exports amounted to 291,449 metric tons, falling 59 compared to July this year and down 52.5 percent compared to the same month of 2011. Meanwhile, in August the revenue generated by Turkey's chrome ore exports totaled $24.15 million, decreasing 56.3 percent compared to July this year and down 52.8 percent on year-on-year basis.
 
Meanwhile, in the first eight months of 2012 Turkey's chrome ore exports increased slightly by 0.3 percent to 1.48 million metric tons, while the revenue for these exports stood at $294 million, down by 9.2 percent, both compared to the same period of 2011.
 
In August this year, Turkey's chrome ore exports to China amounted to 109,681 mt, constituting 92 percent of Turkey's total chrome exports, and down 48 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
 
On the other hand, Turkey's nickel ore exports in August this year amounted to 31,600 mt, with the sole destination of Macedonia, while the country's manganese ore exports in August this year totaled 11,061 mt, falling 2.2 percent compared to July.
