Turkey’s billet imports up 65.2 percent in January-June

In June this year, Turkey’s billet and bloom import volume declined by 14.2 percent month on month and by 19.2 percent year on year to 266,007 mt, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $167.73 million, down by 15.3 percent month on month and by 30.7 percent year on year.

In the first six months of this year, Turkey’s billet import volume amounted to 1.96 million mt, growing by 65.2 percent, while the value of these imports moved up by 33.2 percent to $1.18 billion, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey imported 940,368 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, up 28.4 percent year on year, while Algeria supplied 364,084 mt in the given period.
