Turkey’s billet imports up 64.5 percent in January-July

In July this year, Turkey’s billet and bloom import volume rose by 6.4 percent month on month and by 61.3 percent year on year to 283,162 mt, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $167.90 million, up by 0.1 percent month on month and by 42.5 percent year on year.

In the first seven months of this year, Turkey’s billet import volume amounted to 2.24 million mt, growing by 64.5 percent, while the value of these imports moved up by 33.9 percent to $1.35 billion, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey imported 1,053,243 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, up 19.8 percent year on year, while Algeria supplied 414,800 mt in the given period.
