Turkey’s billet imports up 128.8 percent in January-April

In April this year, Turkey’s billet and bloom import volume increased by 14.5 percent month on month and by 112.3 percent year on year to 426,423 mt, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $264.36 million, up by 18.4 percent month on month and by 65.1 percent year on year.

In the first four months of this year, Turkey’s billet import volume amounted to 1,380,542 mt, increasing by 128.8 percent, while the value of these imports grew by 83.1 percent to $814.70 million, both year on year.

In the given period, Turkey imported 587,539 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, up 105.9 percent year on year, while Algeria supplied 292,557 mt in the given period.
