According to media reports from Reuters and Brazil's Valor newspaper, Donald Trump will reportedly ask Latin American leaders to avoid trade with China while attending the Summit of the Americas to be held on April 13-14 in Lima, Peru.

The US trade war with China has intensified following the Trump’s announcement of a 25 percent import tariff on steel imports. Trump has also pressured Mexico and Canada to concede to his demands during renegotiations of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in exchange for maintaining their exemption from the tariffs.

As with Brazil, the US is reportedly negotiating to have ethanol duties excluded in exchange for the exemption of Brazil on the import tariff list.
