Algerian steelmaker Tosyali Algerie remains focused on obtaining international quality certifications in order to strengthen its positions in the local market and to expand its overseas presence.

Along with the developments in the longs sector, the company has recently received an important certification in the pipe segment, being granted an API certificate, valid from April 27, 2020, until April 27, 2023, the official company statement reads.

The API certification will allow the company to strengthen its positions in the local market of Algeria through taking part in oil and gas-related projects. In addition, Tosyali Algerie is expected to target exports of API grade pipes, specifically in order to cover the requirements of the pipe project market in North Africa, taking into account that the competition in the region for such pipes is scarce. In addition, the company is expected to test the US market for pipe sales, in which Algeria has no trade limitation except for the Section 232 safeguard measure, SteelOrbis understands.

Tosyali Algerie is capable of around 400,000 mt of welded steel pipe production per year. The pipe-making facility is the first stage of the so-called “flats side” of the company’s investment, which also involves the establishment of hot rolled coil and slab in the future.
