Russia-based TMK, one of the world's leading oil and gas steel pipe producers, has announced that its Romania-based subsidiary TMK Artrom has commissioned its new integrated heat treatment line for seamless pipes. The line has an annual production capacity of 165,000 mt of pipes per year.

According to TMK, the facility enables a full range of heat-treatment services, such as tempering and quenching, normalization, soft annealing and hot straightening. The new heat treatment facility will also significantly reduce natural gas consumption and environmental impact, as well as reduce nitrogen oxides and carbon dioxide emissions.

Dmitry Pumpyanskiy, chairman of TMK, stated that the new facility will extend the ranges of the company’s premium products while simultaneously reducing production costs and improving product quality. According to Mr. Pumpyanskiy, the heat treatment line is a unique fusion of innovation and green technology that will allow TMK to strengthen its position in the global market.
