TCUD: Turkey's scrap import volume falls by 26.4 percent in January

In January this year, Turkey's scrap import volume fell by 26.4 percent on year-on-year basis from 1.7 million metric tons to 1.2 million metric tons, while these imports were valued at $410 million with a 24 percent decrease compared to January 2018, according the to the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD ).

In the given month, Turkey's scrap imports from EU Countries decreased by 0.5 percent to 794,000 mt, its scrap imports from the US declined by 44.5 percent to 214,000 metric tons, while its scrap imports from CIS Countries amounted to 184,000 mt, down 20.3 percent, all on year-on-year basis. In the same month, the share of EU countries in Turkey's total scrap imports was 64.1 percent, the share of the US in Turkey's total scrap imports was 17.3 percent, while CIS countries' share was 14.8 percent.
