Indian steelmaker Tata Steel has announced its sales results for the third quarter ending December 31 of the financial year 2011-12. The total domestic sales of Tata Steel in the given quarter dropped one percent year on year to 1.62 million mt.

In the given period, sales of flat products increased three percent compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year, while long products sales were lower due to a planned shutdown at mills.

Tata Steel's crude steel output for the third quarter increased 2.4 percent to 1.77 million mt, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
