Indian steelmaker Tata Steel has announced that its crude steel output for the fourth quarter of the financial year 2016-17 ending March 31 amounted to 3.21 million mt, rising by 25.4 percent year on year. The company's liquid pig iron output in the given period was 3.52 million mt, up 29.6 percent compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
In the 2016-17 financial year, the company's crude steel output increased by 17.4 percent to 11.69 million mt, while its liquid pig iron output stood at 13.05 million mt, up 22.5 percent, both year on year.
In the January-March period, Tata Steel's finished steel output increased by 22 percent to 3.1 million mt, while its finished steel sales volume totaled 3.17 million mt, up by 16.8 percent, both compared to the same period of the previous financial year.
In the full financial year, the company produced 11.34 million mt of finished steel, up 16.9 percent from the previous financial year, while its finished steel sales volume increased by 14.6 percent year on year to 10.94 million mt, constituting the highest-ever annual sales volume.
Tata Steel stated that in the given financial year it achieved the best-ever liquid pig iron output of 10.83 million mt at its Jamshedpur plant in India, rising by 1.6 percent year on year.
