Taiwan’s scrap imports down 1.7 percent in January

Taiwan’s total imports of ferrous scrap decreased by 1.7 percent year on year to 250,633 mt in January this year, rising by 18.3 percent from the previous month, according to the official customs statistics.

In the given month, the US was the main supplier of scrap to Taiwan, exporting 93,526 mt to this destination, falling by 31.1 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, scrap exports from Japan to Taiwan totaled 71,947 mt in the given period, up 176.7 percent year on year.
