Taiwan’s largest steelmaker China Steel Corporation (CSC) has announced that it has developed and mass-produced ultra-thin electromagnetic steel for electric vehicles (EV).

Accordingly, the company managed to reduce the product’s thickness by 20 percent, increase its strength by five percent and decrease its iron loss by about six percent, compared to conventional products. This high-strength product with a thickness of 0.2 mm will be used in the motors of next generation EVs, making them more energy-efficient. The Taiwanese steelmaker stated that it can provide the product with a thickness of 0.25-0.35 mm and that reducing the thickness of electromagnetic steel can improve the energy efficiency of motors, making EVs more energy-saving.

CSC has also officially supplied the product in question to international car manufacturers, with an order volume of 4,500 mt per year.
