After a lockout of 900 workers at US Steel's Hamilton, Ontario plant that began last November, US Steel executives were scheduled to meet with Local 1005, a branch of the United Steel Workers (USW) union, on Tuesday. The meeting marks the first talks between the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based steelmaker and the union since the lockout began over 10 months ago.

A mediator, Simon Clark, was to be present in the meeting to aid in a possible vote in favor of a new agreement between US Steel and the union that may eventually lead to the end of the lockout at the steel energy pipe and flat-rolled mill.
