Steel production in Argentina swells 15.1 percent year-over-year in February

Industry trade group Acero reported Thursday that steel production in Argentina totaled 437,900 metric tons in February--a 15.1 percent increase compared to February 2010. Iron production in Argentina also spiked in February, climbing 15.8 percent year-over-year to 351,000 metric tons.

Acero also noted that steel production in Argentina for the full year 2010 jumped 28 percent from 2009 production to 5,138,400 metric tons.

Additionally, the industrial production index in February rose 0.3 percent from January and 9.4 percent from February 2010.
