Spanish special steel producer Sidenor is investing more than €13.6 million in the decarbonization of its Basauri steel plant as part of its broader sustainability and industrial modernization strategy, according to local media reports.
The investment focuses on electrification and energy efficiency improvements aimed at reducing emissions and improving the environmental performance of the facility.
According to the company, the project will include:
- electrification of industrial processes,
- modernization of production systems,
- improvements in energy efficiency.
The measures are expected to contribute to lower carbon emissions at the Basauri plant, while supporting the company’s long-term decarbonization roadmap.
Basauri plant remains strategic production site
The Basauri plant is one of Sidenor’s key industrial facilities and specializes in the production of special steel products used in sectors including automotive, engineering, energy, and industrial manufacturing.
The investment is intended to strengthen the plant’s competitiveness while aligning operations with increasingly strict European environmental requirements.
